Save public Facebook videos and Reels

Facebook links are messy. Use a public video or Reel URL that still plays when you are logged out — usually facebook.com or fb.watch.

Only use links you own or have permission to download. Private, paid, and login-walled posts will be refused.

Get a URL that is actually the video

Open the video in a browser. Copy the address bar after the player is showing that clip. fb.watch short links are acceptable if they resolve to a public Facebook video host.

Do not paste a profile, a Page home URL, or a Messenger share card. Those are not media files.

Reels and Watch

Public Watch videos and some Reels advertise a file to logged-out visitors. Many Reels do not. If Facebook answers with a login wall, Downaro stops. That is the product working as designed, not a broken button.

Friends-only posts, group-only videos, and marketplace clips are out of scope.

If the paste fails

  • Open the same link in a private browser window. If Facebook asks you to log in, Downaro cannot help.
  • Strip is not required; extra query parameters are fine. The host still has to be Facebook.
  • Live videos that have not ended often have no stable file.

Facebook and Meta trademarks belong to Meta. Downaro is not an official Meta tool.
