What this page is for
People search “instagram video downloader” when they already have a link and want the file on disk. Instagram’s own Save only bookmarks the post inside the app. The bytes never leave Meta’s product. This page looks at the public URL you paste and, when Instagram already advertised a file to a logged-out visitor, lists that file.
It is meant for a creator exporting their own public Reel, or someone storing a public video they have permission to reuse. It is not an anonymous Story viewer, not a follower-list tool, and not a way to open a locked account.
A listed MP4 or JPEG is a technical result: the public page advertised a file. It is not a licence. If the post is not yours and nobody gave you permission to keep it, do not paste the link.
Reels
Searches for an Instagram Reels downloader stay here. There is no second URL. Open the Reel → paper-plane share icon → Copy link. A working address contains /reel/ and a short code. Profile URLs, Explore, and the Reels tab itself are not a single Reel.
If the same Reel also has a public cover image, that image can appear as its own file. The video is listed separately when Instagram advertised an MP4.
Feed video posts
“Download Instagram video” usually means a regular /p/ post, not a Reel. On the post, tap the three dots and choose Copy link, or copy the address bar in a browser. If the post is photos only, there is no video file to return. Downaro will not invent an MP4 to look busy.
Photos
Public photo posts list every image Instagram advertised, as the original file, not a fake video. Carousels that mix photos and a clip list each public item. Private albums and Close Friends highlights are out of scope.
Stories
Stories vanish quickly and many never have a public URL. Downaro only looks at a Story link that still opens without signing in. Close Friends is never in scope. If Instagram answers with a login wall, we stop.
What Instagram’s Save button does
Save inside Instagram adds the post to your in-app collection. It does not write an MP4 to Photos or Files. That is why people land here after they already “saved” the Reel and still cannot find a file on the phone.
When a paste fails
- The account is private, or the post vanished after you copied it.
- You pasted a profile, a highlight cover, or a search URL.
- A logged-out browser hits a login wall — Downaro stops there on purpose.
- You pasted a share card that is not the media object.
Open the same link in a private window. If Instagram asks you to sign in, this tool cannot help. That is the product working, not a broken button.
On iPhone
Safari usually drops the download in the Files app. Use Share → Save Video if you want it in Photos. The iPhone guide walks through that last step.
