Save public Instagram videos and Reels

Use this page when the link is an Instagram Reel or a video post you are allowed to keep. Downaro does not log into Instagram and will not open private accounts.

What this tool is for

Instagram’s in-app Save only bookmarks a post inside the app. The file never lands on your phone. This page is for people who need the actual public media — most often a creator exporting their own Reel, or someone storing a public video they have permission to reuse.

It is not an anonymous Story viewer, not a follower-list tool, and not a way to open a locked account.

Copy the right Instagram URL

Reels

Open the Reel → tap the paper-plane share icon → Copy link. A working link contains /reel/ plus a short code. Profile URLs and explore pages are not Reels.

Feed video posts

On a regular post, tap the three dots and choose Copy link. Video posts use /p/. If the post is photos only, there is no video file to return.

Stories

Stories disappear quickly and many are not public URLs. Downaro will only look at a Story link that still opens without signing in. Close Friends is never in scope.

What usually goes wrong

The account is private, or the post vanished after you copied it.
You pasted a profile, a highlight cover, or a search URL.
Instagram showed a login wall to a logged-out browser — Downaro will stop there.
On iPhone the MP4 is in Files, not Photos. Use the iPhone guide.

Instagram, Reels, and related marks belong to Meta. Downaro is not partnered with them.

Questions people actually ask

Which Instagram links work?

Public /reel/ and /p/ video links that open in a logged-out browser. Profile URLs and login-only posts do not.

Can I save Instagram Stories?

Only if you have a public Story link and the Story is still available without signing in. Close Friends and private Stories are out of scope.

Does Instagram’s Save button download the file?

No. It bookmarks the post inside Instagram. Downaro looks for a real file the public page already advertises.
