Downaro

Reddit video downloader with sound, plus public images

Paste a public reddit.com post, share link, or v.redd.it file. Downaro finds the public video and audio tracks and muxes them into one MP4.

Only use links you own or have permission to download. Private, paid, and login-walled posts will be refused.

What this Reddit video downloader does

Reddit’s player stitches a video track and a separate audio track while you watch. A right-click save usually grabs only the picture. This page reads the public post and, when both tracks exist, muxes them into one MP4. Searches for “reddit video downloader with sound” stay here. The longer explanation of the split lives on the silent-file guide.

If the original post has no soundtrack — a GIF, a silent screen recording — the saved file will be silent too. No downloader can invent a track Reddit never published.

Post, share card, or v.redd.it

In the app: Share → Copy link. Comments permalinks, /r/…/s/… share cards, and public v.redd.it files work. Crossposts are walked back to the original public post when Reddit includes that data. The comments link is the most reliable, because the post is what points at both tracks.

Why a naive save is silent

Hosted uploads live on v.redd.it as DASH or CMAF tracks: a file like DASH_720.mp4 and, when the post has sound, a separate audio file. The official player plays both. Your browser’s save control usually sees the video track only. Downaro muxes them when both are public, and also lists the audio file on its own.

Images

Public image posts list the original file Reddit advertised. A gallery lists each public image. Video and images from the same post appear as separate rows.

Removed posts and private subs

Removed posts, private subreddits, and most user-deleted videos fail on purpose. If old.reddit or new.reddit asks you to log in for that thread, the file is not public here.

Questions people actually ask

Why is the Reddit file silent?

Reddit stores video and audio as two public files. Downaro muxes them into one MP4 when both exist. If the original post has no sound, the saved file will be silent too.

Do share links and v.redd.it work?

Yes. Paste a reddit.com comments link, a /s/ share card, or a public v.redd.it file.
